audiofic update
Thanks to the AMAZING efforts and talents of Jinjuly, my audiofic now has a happy home on
http://jinjurly.com/audio/. My page is http://jinjurly.com/audio/?cat=259. Easy to remember for Japanese speakers because 259 can be read as "Fu-! ikku-!" ("Ah! I'm coming!"); and my stories all seem to be porn....
There are also tons and tons of other great audiofic on the site, though I seem to be representative of Snupin (er- Harry Potter in general, actually). Anyone up for the challenge of making our voices heard? All you need to record at home are a couple of free, downloadable programs and a mike (under 1000 yen investment!). And if I can do it (may I remind you that half the time I can't read my own computer and hit the 'YES' and 'NO' buttons blindly?), so can anyone!

Okay, I've had this hanging about for ages. It's unbeta'd and I wrote it to be read (by me), and I think the voice is off (Southern, not Chicago), but... Post a list of your top five fics top 3 favourite fics you've written in your two OTPs, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. There are generally two requirements for me: the story has to be a vehicle for my beliefs (mostly about love, redemption, and perserverence) and it has to 'fly' (i.e., have enough humour and plot and banter to not make readers gag on the aforementioned beliefs). So here we are:
Three Severus/Remus
As Simple As That. I love Eileen's voice, I love how she has parallels with Severus and Remus, I love how the past bleeds into the future. I sound really fat-headed, but y'all, you don't know how crap the first drafts were. This story went to interesting places, and I'm glad it took me along.
Ten Aprils: The madness that consumed my life last spring, and it still makes me happy. What does it mean to defeat evil with love? What is forgivable, what is redeemable? (er - and also, as per painless_j's earlier post, now! new! with easy-to-follow chapter links! mea culpa)
The Bad Year: Probably the story I reread the most of everything I've ever written. It's very spare writing, and I think I like every word in it (especially those between the lines). The challenge was to not use the word love, but it's there with every third stir - look! another Zenna Henderson reference!.
Three Remus/Sirius
The Maddest House: My first novel, y'all! Some of my big, loud ideas about the nature of love and evil, and the trickiness of prophecies. The plot is well-paced, I think, and I love poor struggling Sirius.
Masterfade: I love the idea of Sirius as a Grim, and of Remus using a Marauder's wicked way with magic to outsmart evil. It's hopeful, I like to think - and preferable to some of the possible Book 7 scenarios.
Our Private Universe. I love the way this builds and builds towards an AU... or maybe not. The one thing I'm sad about is that I discovered afterwards that the title is also that of a pop song. I took it from a poem that to me summed up the coldness and isolation of the characters in the story:
Are we not strangers each to each,
And all alone we live and die?
Deception is the stuff of speech,
And life a smug and glossy lie,
Where puppet-like our parts we play:
The first in public we rehearse,
The second when we shrink away
into our private universe.....

I wish I knew how to quit you... hey! I just did!
*sigh* I finally got up the nerve to quit my elementary school job. I thought I'd feel relieved, but then I realised that I have two more months to go. Much disappointment on the part of the school. I did feel that I was doing the right thing (especially as the kids today realised that my last name is vaguely similar to the Japanese for 'tits' -- if you go for that kind of humour). I also got my pay envelope for December... it will be quite painful without this job, so now I need to find something else to fill the day. *sigh again* But I will look forward to not getting panic attacks about lessons. *nods*
